double oops… bloopers !

December 12, 2006 – 12:01 pm

another bizarre day for me to talk about

blah, blah, blah… my “day” started quite okay, with me feeling a little bit preppy happy because i was sporting the new capri i bought friday at sm. I was actually looking forward to “working” because I was thinking that I could, as always, get away with a four-hour workday with the rest of the remaining four hours spent working on our individual “projects”, which is to design a wordpress template.

I spent the first hour just browsing around ebay and then keeping abreast with my daily dose of news and entertainment updates. It’s now quite chilly-cold in the office because of the recent evacuation of some of my work colleagues to the new office just a few streets away from here.

So I was just slumping here in my 350-peso monobloc chair trying to pass time. I slept during my break because it was just so comfortable being snuggled in my cushy warm wool jacket. I woke up feeling so refreshed, and decided to go to the comfort room to pee.

Lady Fortuna is again playing prankster. Just when I am no longer being paranoid about going to the cr alone during the night (because of ghosts). So, there I was fulfilling the call of nature, and just when I was getting out of the cubicle, the world went pitch dark. Ahhh!

I could barely stop myself from shouting and running like a madwoman.

It was completely pitch dark, and I couldn’t see anything (of course). At that time, I think that only my adrenaline kept me from passing out. I was not thinking, it was only instinct that told me to walk “briskly”. And as if walking, or more appropriately scampering, alone in the long, dark corridor wasn’t enough, my sandals (liking to join the fun) just decided to break.

uh huh… double trouble. I didn’t know if I would run or scream or just lie dead on the corridor floor. Once trouble strikes, it won’t hold back. It’d hit you right smack in the face and leave you for dead, barely breathing.

One should also remember that this happened in mere seconds. I didn’t want to think scary thoughts, like maybe I’d run right into “something” or somebody would grab me from behind, I was just concentrating on feeling my way back to the office; my left hand pressed against the corridor wall so that I could “feel” where I was going and know when to turn. All of this I’ve done through broken sandals and rapidly beating heart.

And then, voila!, I saw the light. Yey. Good for me… I didn’t want to look to afraid so I fixed my hair and walked awkwardly, albeit nonchalantly, in my chair. With the scary part overcame, I devised a plan on how to fix my sandal-problem. Yes, I’d call home and tell them to pick me up tomorrw. No. I forgot my cellphone at home. Yes, I could use the office phone. No. You can’t walk that far without everybody noticing that you’re walking barefoot, besides it’s already 3am, they’re all asleep at home.

Waah. So my almost-perfect evening was turning out to be a horror film with a touch of suspense and slapstick comedy.

After a little while, we then gathered to discuss plans for our Christmas party. Sir danny (who doesn’t like to be called “sir” danny) is coming from the US to celebrate Christmas party and the company’s first year anniversary with us.

The morning shift has already decided some details about the party so we just went over their ideas and discussed what we wanted to do. I wasn’t really paying attention because I was talking to Andie.

Due to my misadventure earlier, I had this adrenaline rush. I was really very chatty and preppy. Not very like myself in the office. Not that I don’t talk, just that I’m my quiet self in the office. But not that day. All my pent up emotions went to talking, and trying to get noticed. Not consciously though, I just I felt and just realized that maybe, I was attracting too much attention because I was really being very perky.

The lights went back about 5:30 am and we ate our snacks, courtesy of the office. We’re now back to doughnuts. hahaha… i didn’t really mind because I missed eating doughnuts. I almost ate three, but stopped myself before I get tempted. Andie and the rest then went back to the other office, and we all went back to work.

Me, I just finished my report and then slept. When I woke up, It was already 6:30 am and Annie (my seatmate, on my left) was gone. I figured she went ahead because she have to go home and attend an affair in Roxas.

uhum… in case you’re wondering, I went home in a taxi. clutching my sandals very, very tighly. eheh (wink!)
