Google goes for BLACK
July 23, 2007 – 4:36 pm
Lately, you might have been hearing how “something” is the NEW black.
While “white is the new black” for dresses (that little black dress is now white). Top search engine Google has opted to go back to basics: Blackle.
Blackle is version of Google’s search engine with an inky-black background. It displays the number of watt-hours saved by using the site. Currently, 109,369.140 Watt hours have been saved.
Google says that Blackle’s launch is due to environmental reasons - a darker screen uses less energy, and with the millions of hits they get a day, their dark new homepage could potentially save thousands of dollars and also, important resources like oil.
What do you think, would it really save energy? Would all webapges be black in the near future? Would “Blackle be really, the New Google?”
