spiderman 3what do tobey maguire, kirsten dunst and james franco have in common? pretty faces? (not kirsten! :)) hot bodies? (not kirsten! :)) a super box office franchise movie? yes, definitely (even for kirsten :)). ahahahaha…

although this year has lots of movies (pirates of the caribbean, harry potter 5, transformers and a few more) that have box office potential, spiderman 3 is probably one of the most anticipated movie of the year. you can’t certainly deny all the hype that spidey has generated for the past months. he definitely has us caught in his web!

so did spidey also caught my fancy?

uhhmmm, before all the members of spidey fanatic club strangle me with their homemade spider web, let me just say that i did enjoy the movie. yes, i liked all those fantastic fight scenes, the exploding cars, the crumbling buildings, not to mention, james franco’s half naked body (wink!). we certainly had our eyes full of great visual effects, the only problem was that i felt that there just a wee bit lacking in the storyline…

the movie was about 130 minutes long (thats about 2 hrs and 10 mins) and spider-man spent most of it battling villains and low-life criminals. he did have his hands full because for this third installment, he has 3 bad guys to fight. as i’ve said, i did liked all those exciting battle scenes; the flying gliders, exploding balls (eheheh, balls!), the swirling mass of sand and our hero swinging in sky-high skyscrapers.

so what is wrong with me?! why am i lying in my bedroom floor curled in a fetal position and muttering incoherently? why the bruhahaha about the storyline?

oh well, because this is a movie. and for a movie to be called a decent movie, it has to have a backbone and yes THAT is called the storyline.

so what’s the storyline for spiderman 3?

–> watch out, those who haven’t YET seen the movie might want to back away slowly, grab a hanky, cover your ears (errr, eyes) and sing the ABC’s.

venom, black spidermanokay, back to to the storyline… the movie started interestingly enough, as i’ve said, GREAT battle scenes. for the first 120 minutes (i liked this part) pete fights with harry (whose avenging his father’s death) and sandman, planned to propose to MJ , battles his inner self (venom has now possessed him), saves the day… and the remaining ten minutes? spidey spent it battling sandman and venom and then my butt suddenly got wiggly because the movie suddenly ended: venom died, sandman “flew” away (the heck?!). harry died and mj and pete kiss and make up.

so totally annoying! it’s like eating a 3-scoop ice cream, i spend my time just licking the sides and then when there’s only about a scoop left, somebody rams the whole thing (cone and all) down to my throat.

uggghhh… can’t say that i was completely entanged in spiderman’s web. so i’ll just give this one a 7.5 out of ten.
