Bradley Bayou’s new book will help you dress for maximum effect—no matter what your shape

noh, i do not recommended diet and starving yourself, or bingeing and then purging all you’ve eaten. nor do i even recommend the healthy way of exercising your butt off.

noh. not close enough.

apparently, all you have to do is to shell out some $$$ and buy a book. but this book is not just an ordinary book. this one actually says that it will make you look sexier. and noh, you wouldn’t be eating the book pages to do so. you have to read it, and then make some measurements. then you go and shell out more money, because to have to overhaul your entire wardrobe and you have to buy loads of clothes and shoes and accessories.

if it isn’t enough that you’re now broke and bankrupt you also have to follow Bradley Bayou’s 10 Dress-Sexy Commandments:

1. Thou shalt choose the right undergarments. The most common problem? Creating new bulges next to the ones you’re covering up.

2. Thou shalt choose the highest quality fabrics thou can afford. Buying cheap is like buying disposable clothing.

3. Thou shalt not force your figure into every style. Certain styles will never look good on you. Period.

4. Thou shalt use your skin to your advantage. A peek of flesh can instantly draw the eye straight to the spot you’re showing off-and away from a flaw you’re trying to conceal.

5. Thou shalt not buy big-tricket trendy items. If you look at somrthing and have to ask yourself, “Do I really think this will look good in two years? it probably won’t.

6. Thou shalt select skinny fabrics and cuts. Fabrics that gently flow and drape over your body create more of a vertical line, making you seem slimmer.

7. Thou shalt ignore clothing tags-the fit is the thing. Generally speaking, if there are wrinkles in the fabric when you try it on, the garment is either too small or too big.

8. Thou shalt hall accessories. They divert from your flaws and are more affordable than clothes.

9. Prints and accessories must be in scale with the body. Little things on big people look ridiculous, and big things on little people look ridiculous.

10. Thou shalt wear the V-neck shape-it looks good on every woman. No matter what shape or size you are, the V-neck will create the illusion of a slimmer waist.

now. enough of preaching and let get down to business. let’s find out your body (so that you can start buying loads of clothes). excerpted from The Science of Sexy by Bradley Bayou:

there are three factors that determine your body type: your silhouette (inverted triangle, rectangle, triangle or hourglass); your measurements (shoulders, bust, waist and hips); and your weight.

First, determine your body type using the table below, (click to see a larger image)

body type chart

find your height along the vertical edge and your weight along the horizontal edge. The square at which they intersect will be part of a numbered color block. The number represents the “fitting room” to which you’ll be going.

You’ll also need to determine your silhouette:

  • INVERTED TRIANGLE (IT)

Your shoulder or bust measurement is larger than that of your hips.
Check the numbers: Your shoulder or bust measurement is more than 5% bigger than your hip measurement.
For example: If your shoulders measure 36″, your hips will be 34¼” or smaller.

  • RECTANGLE (R)

Your shoulders, bust and hips are around the same size, and you have no defined waistline.
Check the numbers: Your shoulder, bust and hip measurements are within 5% of one another. Your waist is less than 25% smaller than your shoulder or bust measurements.
For example: If your shoulders measure 36″, your waist will be 27″ or more.

  • TRIANGLE (T)

Your hips are wider than your shoulders.
Check the numbers: Your hip measurement is more than 5% bigger than your shoulder or bust measurement.
For example: If your shoulders measure 36″, your hips are 37¾” or larger.

  • HOURGLASS (H)

Your shoulders and hips are around the same size, and you have a very defined waistline.
Check the numbers: Your shoulder and hip measurements are within 5% of one another. Your waist is at least 25% smaller than your shoulder, hip and bust measurements.
For example: If your shoulders and hips measure 36″, your waist is 27″ or smaller.

Now just find your body-type number from the table and click on the appropriate silhouette.
